Solar energy production rose by nearly a third year on year in 2025, according to the National Energy System Operator (Neso). This generated 18TWh of power, contributing over 6% of Britain’s electricity. Wind Farms

Wind is the biggest source of renewable energy in the UK, contributing 85TWh, or 30% of Britain’s electricity in 2025. Grid and Infrastructure

One of the biggest challenges of the move to cleaner, greener energy production is the UK’s aging power grid. This was never built for this type of supply, and it often struggles to cope with renewable generation to the point where renewable energy simply goes to waste.
