Solar Skyframe

Cabin mounted Solar Energy Solution

Our Solar Skyframe can be mounted directly onto cabin roofs using twist locks or can be ground-mounted. The additional renewable energy will feed into your solar/ hybrid power solution, further reducing generator runtime, fuel use and carbon emissions.

Excess energy generated throughout the day will be stored for later use by the solar/hybrid system. Available in 20ft, 24ft, and 32 ft sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are three sizes of Solar Skyframe – 20ft x 8ft (6.1m x 2.5m) 24ft x 9ft (7.4m x 2.8m) and 32ft x 10ft (9.8m x 3.1m). Each one is 0.18m when flat and 1.8m high when fully open.

A Solar Skyframe produces between 2.65kW and 4.24kW of energy, depending on its size. The 20ft unit produces 2.65kW, the 24ft unit produces 3.18kW and the 32ft unit produces 4.24kW. This supplements diesel generators and other renewable energy as part of a hybrid power system.

Solar Skyframes can be fitted almost anywhere on site, but they are most commonly found on the roof of welfare units and other site accommodation. They can also operate at floor level.

Roof mounted solar panels, such as Think Hire's Solar Skyframe, harvest free solar energy, which feeds into a site's hybrid energy system. This reduces the need for expensive diesel consumption, saving on fuel, maintenance and other operating costs.

Yes, you can have as many Solar Skyframes as you have roof space to mount them. The more you link together, the more free solar energy you will harvest and the greater the savings you'll make. Solar Skyframes can also be linked with larger solar generators such as the Solartainer Versatile.

Absolutely. Solar Skyframes are designed to generate energy that is stored in a BESS as part of your hybrid energy generation. BESS storage means that all the solar energy generated can be used, with any excess saved for night time operations when solar energy is not available.

Yes. Solar Skyframes can be fitted quickly and easily and removed and repositioned with the same ease. This makes them a versatile power source that is ideal for emergency response or rapidly evolving operations.

Solar Skyframes weigh between 900kg and 1800kg depending on their size. Most welfare unit roofs are able to hold this weight easily. They are fully fitted to allow for easy deployment by crane or telehandler.

Solar Skyframes have a built-in robust struts, which can be operated at ground level or whilst mounted in the air. This allows you to set the frames at either 45 degrees or laid flat.

No. Solar Skyframes come with all necessary fixtures and fittings for rapid deployment on cabin roofs. This includes secure twist locks, which are highly effective and simple to use.

Yes. The cost of hiring a Solar Skyframe will quickly be offset by the savings you make in generator fuel and other associated costs. Once the hire costs are covered, the rest of the savings go directly to the bottom line, making this a very cost-efficient hire underpinned by Panorama reporting

No. Solar Skyframes are designed to be quick and easy to install, fitting securely in place without causing any damage to the cabins or other supporting units below. They are deigned to be lifted by crane or telehandler.

What Our
Clients Say About
Think Hire

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"The hybrid system has exceeded expectations. Since installation, our site has run on batteries and solar PV for 86% of the time, cutting fuel use by nearly 8,300 litres and avoiding around 22 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

The system was quick to set up, fully autonomous, and has made a noticeable difference to local noise and air quality. The current trial has demonstrated very strong results, significant environmental benefits, reduced GHG emissions, cost reductions, and silent power overnight. The hybrid generator system has proved its value in adopting this technology when running off-grid."

“The Think Hire products are branded really well and look great, which is really important in our industry. People don't understand: if you've got a job that's 60 or 80 weeks long, that's a year and a half of your life spent in those facilities. The product works great. They've got the specs sorted. They've got it down to a T”

“We work with several suppliers, but currently we use Think Hire in almost all cases. I use Think Hire because they handle everything on-site and set it all up, which means I don't need to worry about anything. With our previous supplier, we had to either do the plumbing ourselves or hire someone separately to do it. With Think Hire, if there's a problem, since they've done everything, they take responsibility and resolve it”
