SearchThink Hire Partners with GreenTheUK to Plant Trees for the NHS
Think Hire has partnered with GreenTheUK on a new initiative to fund tree planting across NHS healthcare sites in the UK. The project is part of Think Hire's wider ESG commitments, and it starts with a contribution of 300 trees, to be planted across GP surgeries, care homes, hospitals and pharmacies during the October 2026 to March 2027 planting season.
This builds on Think Hire's existing environmental commitments, including its SBTi-validated net zero targets and independently verified reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Supporting biodiversity on NHS sites is a natural extension of that work, recognising that a genuine ESG strategy reaches beyond a business's own operations and into the communities it serves.
Why NHS sites
Many NHS sites have land that goes underused, whether that's a strip of grass beside a car park or an unused corner of a hospital grounds. This initiative puts that space to work for the patients who use these sites and the communities around them.
The reasoning is simple. Trees on healthcare sites capture carbon, cut air pollution, and connect wildlife across urban areas, helping increase biodiversity in places that often have very little green cover. They also give patients and staff calmer, greener surroundings to recover and work in, at exactly the sites where that matters most.
Supporting community health
Connecting people to nature is closely linked to physical and mental health. By bringing more trees to NHS grounds, Think Hire and GreenTheUK aim to support the health of local communities directly, which in turn eases some of the everyday pressure on the NHS.
The first phase
The first phase of the partnership will see 300 trees planted across UK healthcare sites over the 2026/27 planting season. Once planting is complete, Think Hire will receive a bespoke case study covering the species planted, the site locations, and before and after photos of each location, so the impact of the project can be tracked and shared.
A recurring commitment
This is not planned as a one-off. Think Hire intends to repeat this contribution at least annually, continuing to fund tree planting on NHS sites in future planting seasons as part of its ongoing environmental and community work.
