Fuel, Emissions, and Air Quality Environmental Impact Policy

Think Hire is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our fleet operations by reducing fuel consumption, lowering emissions, and improving air quality. We are dedicated to complying with all relevant environmental regulations and continuously striving to enhance our sustainability performance. This policy sets out our approach to managing fuel usage, emissions, and air quality in accordance with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Standard 7.1, specifically the O2 requirement.

The responsibility for implementing this policy lies with me, the Managing Director, who will oversee its application and ensure that all team members are trained and equipped to meet the environmental standards set forth. Regular audits and reviews will be conducted to track progress and ensure compliance with this policy.

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and to reflect any changes in operational or environmental objectives. All employees and contractors must adhere to the provisions of this policy to help us achieve our sustainability goals.

Fuel Management and Usage Monitoring

We will implement and maintain procedures for monitoring fuel consumption across our fleet. This includes:

  • Tracking Fuel Usage: We will collect and analyze data on fuel usage regularly to identify trends, detect inefficiencies, and ensure optimal fuel consumption.
  • AdBlue Usage: Monitoring AdBlue consumption and the diesel to AdBlue ratio will be a key focus to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide emissions.
  • Fuel Efficiency Measures: We will adopt fuel-efficient driving practices, reduce vehicle idling, and employ telematics to monitor driver behavior and optimize fuel use.

Emissions Reduction

We are committed to reducing our fleet's emissions through the following measures:

  • Minimizing Engine Idling: Engine idling will be minimized, with clear procedures for drivers to follow to turn off engines when stationary for extended periods.
  • Vehicle Selection: We will prioritize the use of low-emission, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly vehicles where possible, such as those meeting Euro VI standards or utilizing alternative fuels.
  • Carbon Offsetting: We will explore opportunities for carbon offsetting through accredited programs.

Air Quality Improvement

We recognize the importance of improving air quality, particularly in urban areas, and will take action to minimize our fleet's contribution to air pollution:

  • Adoption of Low-Emission Vehicles: We will consider and incorporate vehicles that meet the highest air quality standards, including electric and hybrid vehicles.
  • Promote Cleaner Fuels: We will seek out and adopt lower-carbon fuels where feasible, ensuring that such fuels are sourced responsibly from reputable providers.

Annual Emissions Calculation

We will calculate the well-to-wheel emissions of our fleet annually using tools such as the FORS Emissions Calculator or other approved methods. This will help us understand our environmental impact and set meaningful targets for improvement.

Long-Term Environmental Objectives and Action Plan

We are committed to setting measurable environmental targets, as part of our long-term action plan, which includes:

  • Reducing CO2 Emissions: We aim to reduce our fleet's overall carbon footprint year on year.
  • Promoting Sustainability Initiatives: This includes exploring renewable energy options, using telematics to optimize routes, and collaborating with suppliers and other stakeholders to enhance resource efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Our fleet performance will be continuously reviewed, and we will implement corrective actions to meet our environmental objectives.
