SearchThink Hire launches first ESG Strategy, targeting full net-zero by 2050 with SBTi-validated near-term goals
New strategy sets out environmental, social and governance commitments running to 2050.
Think Hire, a division of Think Energy Group, has launched its first formal ESG Strategy, setting out environmental, social and governance commitments on a roadmap running through to 2050. Sustainability has been the foundation of Think Hire's business since day one, and the new strategy formalises that approach for the first time rather than setting the company on a new path.
Our ESG strategy is underpinned by ambitious, measurable commitments across environmental, social and governance priorities. This includes two validated targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): achieving net-zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035, and reaching full net-zero across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2050, supported by a 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by that date.
The formalised ESG approach also means Think Hire can better support customers with their own decarbonisation goals, giving them verified data and a clear framework to report on the emissions impact of the equipment they hire.
Beyond decarbonisation, the strategy also commits Think Hire to cutting waste at source through a circular economy approach and supporting nature-positive outcomes on and around its sites.
Alongside its environmental targets, the strategy sets out social commitments covering employee volunteering, support for local charities and social enterprises, workforce wellbeing and an inclusive culture.
On governance, the strategy formalises senior-level oversight of ESG performance, sets ethical and anti-bribery standards, extends responsible sourcing requirements through the supply chain, and aligns Think Hire's environmental management systems with ISO 14001.
The strategy builds on credentials Think Hire already holds, including its SBTi validation, an Excellent rating from the Considerate Constructors Scheme, and an EcoVadis Bronze sustainability rating, placing the company in the top 35% of businesses assessed.
Neil Richardson, CEO and Founder of Think Energy Group, said: “We've been doing this since day one. This ESG strategy puts a formal structure and public targets around what's always driven us: cleaner energy has to work commercially, or it doesn't work at all. Publishing this means holding ourselves to account, with real evidence and a plan we can be measured against, not just aspirations. That's the only way ESG means anything. I'm incredibly proud of the team for getting us to this point."

Heath Mansell, Head of ESG at Think Hire and Think Energy Group, said: “Our ESG strategy is focused on driving tangible change and creating lasting value for our customers and society. We are committed to understanding and responding to our customers' evolving needs while supporting sustainable growth across our business.
By working together, we can reduce environmental impact, deliver long-term value, and help build a more sustainable future."
We've formalised our environmental, social and governance approach to match the impact we're already delivering. The full ESG Strategy, including emissions data and net-zero targets, is available on the ESG Strategy page.
