About the Role

Think Hire is looking for an experienced Depot Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations at our Avonmouth depot. This is a hands-on leadership role covering equipment preparation, testing, maintenance, repair, inventory control, and health and safety compliance across a busy renewable energy equipment hire facility.

What You'll Be Doing

Team Leadership: Supervise and direct depot staff, making sure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the standard Think Hire is known for.

Daily Depot Operations: Manage the receiving, storing, preparation, and dispatch of equipment and goods, keeping things running on time and to plan.

Equipment Preparation and Testing: Inspect and test all equipment before dispatch to confirm it meets quality and safety requirements.

Repair and Maintenance: Lead fault diagnosis and repair processes, oversee routine servicing schedules, and keep equipment downtime to a minimum.

Inventory Control: Maintain accurate stock records for equipment, parts, and materials, and ensure proper storage at all times.

Health and Safety Compliance: Uphold all health and safety regulations, conduct regular risk assessments, and build a safety-first culture across the team.

Reporting and Documentation: Keep accurate records of equipment status, repairs, test results, and stock movements, with regular updates to management.

Operational Support: Ensure equipment is prepared and available to meet live operational requirements, resolving issues quickly and professionally.

Staff Training and Development: Support your team with training in equipment handling, testing procedures, and safety standards.

Process Improvement: Spot inefficiencies and implement improvements to equipment handling, preparation, and maintenance workflows.


What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in depot operations, equipment management, or a hands-on supervisory role
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and motivating a team
  • Practical experience with equipment preparation, testing, and repair
  • Solid understanding of inventory control and operational workflows
  • Working knowledge of UK health and safety regulations
  • Strong problem-solving ability, particularly for diagnosing and resolving equipment faults
  • Competent with IT systems used for stock tracking, maintenance records, and reporting
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
  • Valid 12-tonne forklift truck licence (essential)
  • Strong understanding of safe forklift operation and associated safety standards
